£250 MADL Donation To Burniston & Cloughton Bowls Club
Proudfoot supermarkets are helping to fund a new pavilion this month for Burniston and Cloughton Bowls Club with a £250 donation.
The family-run supermarket group donated the funds through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage own label products and branded items featured on the Proudfoot promotional leaflet.
The Bowls Club currently comprises around 50 members playing in five leagues, plus a number of club knockouts. The club also stages competitions for any local bowlers to enter, plays matches against numerous visiting clubs from across the country and plays short mat bowls indoors when the summer leagues have ended.
Tony Watson, on behalf of Burniston and Cloughton Bowls Club, commented: “The club was established using a second-hand pavilion, which has now reached the end of its useful life. Unless a replacement is urgently found the club would fold, losing the valuable sporting exercise for those in the village who enjoy it.
“The donation from Proudfoot will help us on our way towards the goal of replacing the pavilion before it falls down, and would be ring fenced to provide a suitable toilet for our disabled members and visitors in the new facility.”
