£1000 MADL Donation To Newby & Scalby Library
The Proudfoot Group have donated £1,000 to Newby & Scalby Library.
The Proudfoot Group was acknowledged last month with £1,000 to donate to local causes through their Making A Difference Locally Charity after being nominated by a customer for its dedication to the community. The group’s Newby supermarket on Scalby Road won one of 15 prizes in Nisa’s competition to recognise the UK’s best independent community retailers.
The Proudfoot Group decided to donate the £1,000 to Newby and Scalby Library to help with running costs, as council funding for the library is due to end in April next year.
On Wednesda August 10th, Ian Proudfoot – Joint Managing Director, Sharon McBean – Newby Store Manager, and Valerie Aston visited Newby and Scalby Library to meet the Trustees to present them with the cheque for £1000
Pat Gardner, Deputy Chair , Scalby and Newby Library and Information Centre said:
“We would like to thank Proudfoots for their generous donation to Scalby and Newby Library and Information Centre. From April 2017 the library will be run by community volunteers for the local community providing a learning, social, cultural and enabling hub for local residents. To keep the library open we will need money and manpower, the donation from Proudfoots will make a difference locally by helping us keep the library open”
