MADL Dontation To 7 Local Causes
The Proudfoot Group is handing out a huge £1,350 to seven worthy causes in the local community that rely on public funding.
The independently run stores located in Newby, Eastfield and Seamer districts raised the monies through their membership with Nisa and its Making A Difference Locally charity, where money is raised by customers purchasing specific products in store.
Over the past two years The Proudfoot Group has donated over £13,000 through Nisa’s charity to a variety of local causes. And this time round, £250 is being donated to Staxton Village Hall, Westway Open Arms drop-in sessions, 49th Scarborough (Eastfield) Scout Group, All New Pop In Club Eastfield, Scarborough Disablement Action Group, Tracey Hutchinson Memorial Playground and £100 to Art Therapy Yorkshire.
Valerie Aston, of the Proudfoot Group, said: “Proudfoot is proud to be able support the community through the brilliant Making A Difference charity, which enables us to raise funds for so many different worthy causes and charities.
“The seven beneficiaries were chosen as we wanted to share the funds across a range of ultra-local causes which are sure to have touched someone’s heart and benefit from the money donated.”
Following cutbacks from local services, Saxton Village Hall will truly benefit from the £250. The registered charity is working towards providing entertainment and activities for the elderly and disabled.
Paul Gabriel, chairman and treasurer of the hall, said: “We would like to thank Proudfoots for their generous donation, as we will be able to offer this fantastic service to the local community.”
Another cause which will be truly benefitting is the Tracey Hutchinson Memorial Playground first opened in 1981 and is in memory of a young, local girl who was tragically killed. The donation will help towards a radical facelift of the popular playground in Robin Hoods Bay, which will hopefully be ready by July next year.
