MADL Newby and Scalby in Bloom

Newby and Scalby in Bloom have received £1,000 from The Proudfoot Group's Making A Difference Locally Campaign.

Still a relatively new Bloom group, these volunteers nevertheless undertake a mammoth task of looking after their area. The group actively work with all sectors of the community and are particularly keen to encourage youngsters into horticulture.

The group have been successful, after a gap of 40 years, in reviving the Newby & Scalby Horticultural and Produce Show, which was last held in 1964.

Whether you run a local business or community group, Newby and Scalby in Bloom would love to hear from you, and will be able to suggest plenty of ways to get involved. From litter picks, to bulb planting and balsam bashing, the possibilities are endless.

Robert Kendall, From Newby and Scalby in Bloom, said: "We are very Pleased with the donation because the money will help us move forward and make working in the area easier."
