Proudfoot Give Local Cause A Hand
Local group Village Hands received a charitable donation of £250 from Proudfoot supermarkets this month to help purchase materials and equipment for sewing and crocheting.
Proudfoot supported the group through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage and Co-op own label products, in addition to funds raised via the four supermarkets’ in-store collecting tins.
Village Hands meet at Brompton Village Hall and are a group of friends and neighbours who meet on the first Wednesday of every month (except January and August) to make things which raise money for charity. Currently the group are working with Linus and have invited members of the wider public to join them in sewing, crocheting and knitting blankets for sick and traumatised children.
Jackie Gray from Village Hands said: “The money Proudfoot have donated will be used to purchase materials and any equipment that members may need as we understand that volunteer makers cannot always fund what they want to contribute. We also pay the village hall rent for any other group that wants to hold a charity event.”
Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, added: “We are delighted to be able to use our Making a Difference Locally funds to support good causes like this in the local area.
“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support, through the in-store collecting tins and purchases of selected products in our stores; as without their support these community donations would not be possible.”
