Proudfoot Supermarkets Celebrate Disability Action Group Scarborough

Disability Action group Scarborough have received a charitable donation from Proudfoot supermarkets this month to go towards running its Treats project.

Established by DAG in 2016, the project provides a variety of free leisure activities for local disabled and disadvantaged people including arts and crafts, zumba, Irish dancing, boccia, tai chi and indoor bowls. It has proven to be most successful since its inception and continues to attract new participants from different backgrounds across the area.

The group has a direct membership of almost one hundred and last year received over 5,500 requests for help on key disability issues from local disabled people and their families.

The Scarborough supermarket group supported the local cause with a donation of £250 through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage and Coop own label products, in addition to funds raised via the four supermarkets’ in-store collecting tins.

“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support, through the in-store collecting tins and purchases of selected products in our stores; as without their support these community donations would not be possible.”
