£250 MADL Donation To Seamer And Irton CP School Pond
Seamer and Irton Community Primary School have received a charitable donation from Proudfoot supermarkets this month towards developing the school’s pond area.
The family-run supermarket group supported the local cause with a donation of £250 through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage own label products and branded items featured on the Proudfoot promotional leaflet, in addition to funds raised via the four supermarkets’ in-store collecting tins.
Plans were made to develop the school pond, which was “looking very tired”, with a total redesign planned to make it accessible and safe for all pupils. In addition, the wildlife area around the pond will provide a quiet area away from the busy playground and benefit all children at the school.
The school wants the pond to be accessible to all pupils to enable them to pond dip and study the insects and the fish. Students will be able to record fish, frogs and newt activity and analyse and report on the wildlife in and around the newly developed pond.
Lisa Moore, School Business Manager, thanked Making a Difference Locally and Proudfoot for the donation.
Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, added: “We are delighted to be able to use our Making a Difference Locally funds to support Seamer and Irton CP School.
“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support, through the in-store collecting tins and purchases of selected products in our stores; as without their support these community donations would not be possible.”
