£250 Donation To Scarborough Sea Cadets
Scarborough Sea Cadets have received a £250 charitable donation from Proudfoot supermarkets this month.
Natalie Davies, Commanding Officer of Scarborough Sea Cadets, said of their donation: “All funds are vital to the charity and can be used towards running costs, boat maintenance, specialist training equipment or giving a cadet the opportunity to attend training courses."
Scarborough Sea Cadets is an independent youth charity that is part of the United Kingdom Sea Cadet Corps. The Scarborough unit comprises 90 cadets and a dedicated team of volunteers and parades twice a week in its facility on East Sandgate in the old town. The cadets are aged between 10-18 and learn valuable life skills such as teamwork and leadership through nautical adventure and fun. Scarborough Sea Cadets are a flagship unit currently holding the coveted Canada Trophy, which recognises them as the top unit out of the 407 within the United Kingdom
The family-run supermarket group Proudfoot supported this local cause with a donation of £250 through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally charity, which raises funds from the sale of Heritage own label products and branded items featured on the Proudfoot promotional leaflet, in addition to funds raised via the four supermarkets’ in-store collecting tins.
Valerie Aston, director at the Proudfoot Group, added: “We are delighted to be able to use our Making a Difference Locally funds to support Scarborough Sea Cadets. It's an honour and a privilege to help and support this worthy cause within our community.
“We would like to thank our customers for their continued support, through the in-store collecting tins and purchases of selected products in our stores; as without their support these community donations would not be possible.”
